Product Review: The Body Shop Seaweed Skin Care (Part 1 of 2)

Because I have combination skin, I've been looking for products that would help keep oil (sebum) under control without drying the skin. That's how I came across The Body Shop's Seaweed Line. I looked into other products but I found them either beyond my budget, or too strong for my aging skin.

I've been a fan of The Body Shop but mainly for their bath and body products, not for facial skin care. I have recently come to the resolve that my Asian skin should use Asian products because they're what works. But since seaweed is an ingredient which was first used in Asian skin care, I figured products The Body Shop's Seaweed Line would be worth a try.

According to their website,
Designed for combination skin, our seaweed helps to restore balance and control excess oil to help give you a shine-free, matte finish.
Having read that, I watched out for the soonest sale event and I got the Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash and the Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream. I was tempted to get the trial/travel pack but I opted to get the regular sizes for these two products since they're the ones that I need most. Besides, I can test the claims better by using a combination of at least two products in the skin care line rather than just one.

Product Review: Liquid Powder

This post will be a quick review  of Lactacyd Baby Liquid Powder and Mothercare All We Know Baby Liquid Talc

Parents are recommended against using powder talc on babies as it can cause allergies. This summer, my active toddler sweat so much that skin irritation was almost unavoidable. I was so glad to have come across liquid powder at the supermarket and I started asking around for feedback.

Product Review: Nature Republic Bee Venom Treatment Spot

Nature Republic Bee Venom Treatment Spot

Bee Venom Treatment Spot

Bee Venom Complex 77%
Concentrated spot care ointment for acne

I'm so excited about this product that I don't know where to begin. Of all my recent finds, this one is my favorite. I've tried other spot treatment products before but none of them worked as well as this one.

The New Year's Resolution Haul

So this post came at least a year late but here it is anyway. After all, one can only give substantial feedback about consumable products after a significant amount usage, right? Well at least that's my excuse for this post.

So here we go...

I spent my entire 20s neglecting my skin. I barely had any skin trouble throughout the entire decade and I unconsciously just relied on my body's natural ability to heal and regenerate skin cells. I also had the rare ability to resist sunburn, so I barely used any of the sticky sunblock lotions unless I had to be swimming at midday.

By the time I was in my early 30s, I realized I was way past my teens and started seeing the signs of skin damage and premature aging. It was a turning point- I had to change my habits and only then did I start looking at what's out in the market and it turns out I have been missing out on a lot. So much has changed over the years and there is such a wide variety of choices of every skin care product. It's easy to get overwhelmed and frustrated by the trial and error of finding the right products that would work for you.

So here's my initial haul. I call it my "New Year's Resolution Haul" because I made the decision to take care of my skin at the start of the year, though it took me about two months to shop around, since it just wasn't part of my regular shopping list and kept forgetting to shop for them.

I may be sharing them a bit too late- some of them may have been repackaged or phased out but since I'm into sharing my experience with these products, here's what I have to say.
