Mimbalut Falls in Iligan City |
After paying the P15.00 entrance fee and cottage fee of P50.00 (if I recall correctly), we changed into our swimsuits to go for a dip. But first, we marveled at the rumbling rapids as it fell from a cliff face and down to the stream below. The current was strong; I was afraid to get too close to the cascade for fear of slipping and falling in. The sound of the Mimbalut Falls was overwhelming yet relaxing as it was all one could hear. It's one of the things that I love about waterfalls- they drown out all external (and even internal) noise. One could not think negative thoughts when faced with the mighty waters.
We wanted to swim but the water was slippery with an oily, soapy feel. I don't know if it was only during the time we were there, or if the water was always that way. I was informed later on that there was some type of cleanup being done upstream which may be the reason for the soapy feel.
While the water seemed clean, we knew we'd enjoy swimming better in our next stop, Tinago Falls. We posed for photos and enjoyed the view instead.

We decided to stroll back to the main highway; it took us only 15 minutes. We then rode the habal-habal motorcycles that took us to our next stop- Tinago Falls.
